Four Villages Community Health Centre, Toronto (Leasehold)

About

Four Villages Community Health Centre developed a satellite CHC on Dundas Street West to expand its services to the community. This project comprised a leasehold fit-up of a former warehouse.

The project saw the complete renovation of the space from an industrial use to a community amenity that engages and animates its location. The existing warehouse was successfully transformed by introducing natural light into the building while maintaining and expressing the building’s unique structure. The bright street frontage creates an inviting entry at a more human scale.

The satellite CHC increases access to health care for families, youth, seniors and newcomers to the neighbourhood. The Early Years program was expanded to target more young families. The clinical spaces were designed to meet infection control standards. Two chiropody rooms and a physiotherapy treatment room formed part of the renovated space, along with a training kitchen and program room for health promotion.

Capital funding was provided by the Ontario Ministry of Health and Long-Term Care (MOHLTC).
